| Type | Format | How it plays |
|---|---|---|
| Individual | Stroke Play | Lowest total wins. Net if handicaps are set. |
| Individual | Stableford | Points on every hole against net par. Most points wins. |
| Individual | Stableford Tilt | Stableford with a streak: a net birdie doubles your next hole. |
| Individual | Match Play | Win holes, not strokes. Two to four players a match. |
| Team | Scramble | Everyone hits, play the best shot. One team score. |
| Team | Alternate Shot | Partners share one ball and take turns. |
| Team | 2-Man Best Ball | Everyone plays their own ball; the best score counts. As stroke play, or a 2 v 2 match. |
| Team | Shamble | Teams of 2 to 4. Best drive, then your own ball in. |
| Team | 2 Best Balls of 4 | Teams of four. Best two scores count. |
| Ryder Cup | Hole Points or Match Points | Two sides. Each round plays Four Ball, Scramble, Alternate Shot or Singles. |
Skins and a Nassau are worked out automatically on the Stats page for every event, with nothing to set up.
Mixing formats
- Team events can play a different game each round, as long as team sizes fit.
- A Ryder Cup picks a match format for every round, so you can play Four Ball, then Alternate Shot, then Singles.
- Changing the format later keeps every score already in and counts it under the new format.
