Match Play (individual)

Each playing group is a match. The lowest net score wins the hole; a two-player match ends when one leads by more holes than are left.

OrganizerPlayerSpectator
  • Every playing group of two to four is its own match. With no groups, the whole field is one match.
  • The lowest net score wins the hole. If two players tie for low, the hole is halved for everyone in the match.
  • A hole counts once every player in the match has a score.
  • Two players: the match ends when the lead is more than the holes left, for example wins 3&2. Win on the last hole and it reads wins 2 up.
  • A foursome is two matches: the first two players in the group against each other, and the last two.
  • Three players play one match, every hole, and the most holes won takes it. For three separate matches, pick Three-ball.
  • Three-ball: everyone in a group of three or four plays everyone. A threesome is three matches, two each, from one set of scores.
  • The standings: 1 point for a match won, ½ for a halve, 0 for a loss. A match counts once it’s over. Players level on points are listed by holes won.

Options

  • Carryovers: a halved hole carries over, and the next hole won outright takes them all. Matches with carryovers play every hole.
  • Spin off the low man: the low handicap in each match plays to scratch and everyone else plays off the difference.

On the board

Each match shows its status (All square, KYLE 2 up, Dormie, wins 3&2, Match halved), a tile for every hole with the winner’s initials, and each player’s W · H · L record. After a match is decided, the group can tap Keep scoring for stats; those holes don’t count for the match.
