How the points work
Every hole is scored against net par: par plus any handicap strokes you get on that hole.
| Net score on the hole | Points |
|---|---|
| Albatross or better | 16 |
| Eagle | 8 |
| Birdie | 4 |
| Par | 2 |
| Bogey | 0 |
| Double bogey or worse | −4 |
Handicaps count. A player who gets a stroke on a hole and makes a gross par there has made a net birdie, and that puts them on tilt.
Going on tilt
- A net birdie puts you on tilt. Your next hole counts 2x.
- Another birdie while on tilt makes the next hole 3x. Every birdie in a row adds one more.
- A net eagle counts as two birdies. Off tilt it takes you straight to 3x. On 2x it takes you to 4x.
- Anything else ends the streak. A par or worse, and the next hole is back to 1x.
- Good or bad, the multiplier applies. A double bogey at 3x is −12.
Every round starts fresh at 1x.
An example
Five holes of one player's round, all scores net:
| Hole | Score | Counts | Points | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Par | 1x | 2 | 2 |
| 2 | Birdie | 1x | 4 | 6 |
| 3 | Birdie | 2x | 8 | 14 |
| 4 | Par | 3x | 6 | 20 |
| 5 | Double bogey | 1x | −4 | 16 |
The birdie on 2 put them on tilt, so the birdie on 3 was worth double and pushed the next hole to 3x. The par on 4 was worth three times the usual 2 points, then ended the streak, so the double on 5 only cost the normal 4.
Why groups like it
Nobody is ever out of it. A hot run of birdies can take a player from fifth to first in three holes, and everyone feels the pressure on the hole after a birdie. Like Stableford, a blow-up hole has a floor: once you're past double bogey you can pick up, because it's −4 either way.
Playing Stableford Tilt on LeaderboardLive
Pick Stableford Tilt when you set up an individual event. Scorers enter gross scores hole by hole, and the handicap strokes, points and multipliers work themselves out. FAQ
Do you need handicaps to play Stableford Tilt?
No. Without handicaps it's played against par, so a real birdie puts you on tilt.
How high can the multiplier go?
There is no cap. Each birdie in a row adds one, so after four straight birdies your next hole counts 5x.
What ends a streak?
Any net par or worse. A hole left blank ends it too.
Does the streak carry into the next round?
No. Every round starts at 1x.
How is it different from regular Stableford?
Two things: the points (a birdie is worth 4 and an eagle 8, a bogey scores nothing and a double bogey costs 4, where regular Stableford never goes below zero) and the streak multiplier.
Can teams play it?
Stableford Tilt is an individual game. Every player has their own points and their own streak.
