What actually separates a good one from a bad one
- Does anyone need to download anything? If your players have to visit an app store before they can enter a score, you've already lost half of them.
- Does it require an account for every player? A sign-up wall before hole 1 is the fastest way to have three guys who never actually score their round.
- Is it built for a group, or for tracking your own personal stats? A lot of "golf scoring apps" are really solo GPS and stat trackers with a tournament feature bolted on. That's a different tool than one built around a shared group leaderboard.
- Is the leaderboard actually live, or does it update after the fact? Ask whether scores show up hole by hole or only once a full round is submitted.
- Can you share it with one link? A link that opens straight to the leaderboard beats one that routes through an app download first.
Where LeaderboardLive fits
LeaderboardLive is built around the first two answers above: no download, no account for players. It's not trying to be a GPS app or a personal stat tracker, it's built to get a group scoring a shared leaderboard as fast as possible.
Why we built this
We tried the other golf scoring apps first. Every one of them made us install something, make an account, or dig through a menu built for GPS and stat tracking just to find where scoring lived. None of that is what you need when you're standing on the first tee trying to get twelve guys scoring before the group ahead clears the fairway.
So we built the version that does one thing: you send a link, someone taps it, they're scoring. No app store, no sign-up screen, no settings to configure first. If it takes longer to explain how to use LeaderboardLive than to just start playing, we got it wrong.

Is this the same as a golf GPS or stat-tracking app?
No. LeaderboardLive is for scoring and running a group event, not shot tracking or course GPS. That's on purpose.
