How many rounds should a Ryder Cup golf trip have?

The traditional trip format is four rounds over two days, two partner sessions a day. For a buddy trip, three rounds is the sweet spot: Four Ball, then Four Ball, Alternate Shot or Scramble, then Singles to settle it. Two rounds works as a partner round followed by Singles, and a one-day event can split the 18 into a front nine Scramble and a back nine Four Ball.

How many points does it take to win?

Half the points available plus a half. With 16 players over Four Ball, Four Ball and Singles on match points, there are 16 matches worth a point each, so 8½ wins the cup.

How many players do you need?

Plan in fours: 8, 12, 16 or 24 players gives two even teams and a full foursome in every group on the course. Each foursome is one partner match, or two singles matches.
