For 24 players, split into two teams of 12 and play three rounds: Four Ball, Four Ball, then Singles. That's 6 + 6 + 12 = 24 points, and the first team to 12½ wins the cup. You need 6 tee times each day.
The Classic 3-Round Plan
| Round | Format | Matches | Points |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Four Ball (2-man best ball) | 6 | 6 |
| 2 | Four Ball (2-man best ball) | 6 | 6 |
| 3 | Singles (1 v 1) | 12 | 12 |
| Total · first to 12½ wins | 24 | ||
Points are match play: win a match for a point, halve it for half a point. The table shows each round for 12 players a side.
Tee Times
Six foursomes, so six tee times or a shotgun start. Each partner round is six matches; singles day is twelve.
Picking Teams
Twelve a side, the size of a real Ryder Cup team. Give each captain a vice captain and settle pairings the night before.
Twenty-four is a full Ryder Cup. If a day is tight on time, play two 9-hole rounds (front and back) with different formats instead of one 18.

FAQ
How many points does it take to win a Ryder Cup with 24 players?
It depends on how many rounds you play. Over three rounds (Four Ball, Four Ball, Singles) there are 24 points, so 12½ wins. Over two rounds there are 18, so 9½ wins. A tie is possible, so agree a tiebreak before you tee off (the team that holds the cup keeps it, or a sudden-death playoff).
How many tee times do 24 players need?
6 foursomes, so 6 tee times per round. Every partner match (2 v 2) is one foursome, and on singles day each foursome plays two 1 v 1 matches.
What formats should we play?
Start with Four Ball (2-man best ball), which is forgiving and keeps everyone in it. Mix in Scramble or Alternate Shot on later days, and finish with Singles, which carries the most points and gives you the Sunday finish.
How do handicaps work in a Ryder Cup trip?
Enter each player's handicap and play net. LeaderboardLive works out who gets a stroke on each hole and shows it on the scorecard. For match play you choose whether the low player in each match plays off scratch ("spin off the low man") or everyone plays off their full handicap.
Can we score it by holes won instead of matches won?
Yes. With hole points, every hole in every match is worth a point, so the three-round plan above is worth 432 points instead of 24. It keeps every match alive to the last hole, even after one side is out of reach.
